The Mission
This project was created to help individuals with little to no running experience take their first steps toward a more active lifestyle.
Many people want to start running but don’t know where to begin. They may feel intimidated, unmotivated, or unsure of how to train properly. The mission of this website is to make running simple, accessible, and sustainable by providing clear guidance, structured training plans, and advice from experienced runners.
The Problem: Inactivity and Sedentary Lifestyles
Physical inactivity is a growing issue, especially among younger populations. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, many adolescents do not meet the recommended daily amount of physical activity, which is at least 60 minutes per day.
At the same time, sedentary behaviors—such as prolonged screen time and inactivity—continue to increase. These habits are associated with:
Higher risk of obesity
Increased chances of cardiovascular disease
Lower overall physical fitness
In addition to physical health, inactivity can also negatively impact mental well-being, contributing to stress, anxiety, and decreased focus.

Why Beginners Struggle
One of the biggest challenges is not just inactivity—it’s getting started.
Many beginners:
Don’t know how to train properly
Try to do too much too quickly
Feel discouraged when progress is slow
Lack guidance and consistency
Because of this, many people who attempt to start running quit early and return to inactive habits.
The Science Behind This Approach
This project is based on simple, research-supported principles of training:
- Consistency Over Intensity
Progress in running comes from showing up regularly, not pushing too hard too soon.
- Gradual Progression
The body adapts over time. Slowly increasing running volume helps build endurance while reducing the risk of injury.
- Aerobic Development
Easy-paced running helps improve cardiovascular fitness, making running feel easier over time.
- Recovery and Rest
Rest days are essential for preventing injury and allowing the body to adapt.
These principles are commonly used in structured training programs and are essential for long-term improvement.
A Collaborative Approach
To make this project more effective, I gathered advice from experienced varsity athletes who have gone through the process of improving as runners. Their insights provide real-world perspectives on training, consistency, and overcoming challenges.
By combining personal experience, peer collaboration, and research-based information, this project offers well-rounded and practical guidance for beginners.
How This Project Helps
This website is designed to help beginners:
Start running safely and effectively
Follow structured training plans
Avoid common mistakes
Stay consistent and motivated
The goal is to remove confusion and make running feel more approachable, so that anyone can build a healthy and sustainable habit.
Looking Forward
Building a consistent running routine is not about being perfect—it’s about taking small steps over time.
This project aims to support that journey by providing the tools, knowledge, and encouragement needed to get started and keep going.
